Andrew Kain Endorsement Letter for Sam Yoon
To all Boston Democracy for America members:My name is Andrew Kain. I am writing to tell you why I am working on Sam Yoon's city council race and why we need his unique and progressive voice on Boston's City Council. When I heard about Sam's campaign, I researched him vigorously. What I found was impressive. I wouldn't have driven 2200 miles in 3 days in a beat up Toyota Camry (with no air conditioning) for someone who I don't believe in, someone I don't share a philosophy with.
But let me start at the beginning. I worked for Governor Dean for 14 months in 2003 and 2004. I started helping DFA in Burlington during the spring of 2003 - moving to Iowa to become a Regional Field Director based out of Mason City. Like many of you, I am a city boy, and believe me, rural Northern Iowa was culture shock at its finest. But, I accepted the challenge because I knew we had a tremendous opportunity to elect a man of vision, of character - the progressive voice this country so desperately needed. As all of you know, the Dean campaign was a tremendous ride, from unknown also-ran to leader of the pack to defeat in the span of 10 months.
As you know, one of the main reasons that Democracy for America was founded was so we could keep the dream alive and begin building a "farm team" of progressive candidates at the local level. We have a real opportunity to make this dream happen in Boston by supporting Sam Yoon for Boston City Council At-Large. Boston has come a long way on its City Council and with Maura Hennigan leaving her seat to run for mayor, there is an opening for a new progressive voice. That voice can be the swing vote that can make a positive impact for all of Boston.
This is why I am reaching out to you today. Boston Democracy for America has a chance to unite behind a progressive that can win for City Council (with your help). I urge you to attend the Democracy for America meeting tomorrow, July 6th at 6 p.m. at the Harriet Tubman House located at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Columbus Avenue in the South End (Massachusetts Avenue on the Orange Line is the closest T Stop). When you vote tomorrow keep in mind the vision that unites all of us and give Sam Yoon the endorsement he deserves. If you want to learn more about Sam, please go to www.samyoon.com. Vote for Sam Yoon -- a leader that would make Governor Dean proud.
Sincerely,
Andrew Kain
Sam Yoon for City Council at Large
