Endorsements

The members of DFA Boston endorsed in 2005:
DFA Boston is volunteering time, holding fundraisers, distributing literature, and canvassing for these candidates. Democracy for America recently endorsed Sam Yoon and Gibrán Rivera, thus making these Boston progressives two of the national DFA-List Candidates for America. Please join the DFA Boston Lead Co-ordinators in supporting the respective campaigns:

Endorsement Process

The members of DFA Boston endorsed candidates for the 2005 elections for mayor and city council based on appearances by candidates at the DFA Meetups and on their responses to our Candidate Policy Questionnaire.

Responses

Responses to the questionnaire have been solicited; responses were placed online and members voted whether or not to endorse each candidate separately.

To receive the DFA Boston endorsement, candidates must receive at least 75% approval of the voting members.

Letter to Candidates

Dear Candidate;

The members of Democracy for America: Boston (DFA Boston) invite you to complete our Candidate Policy Questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of 25 questions selected by the members of the Boston area Democracy for America Group. Democracy for America (DFA) is a political action committee dedicated to supporting fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates at all levels of governmentÑfrom school boards to the presidency. The members of DFA Boston come together to bring the principles of the DFA home to our community.

DFA Boston pledges to promote grassroots participation, and to recruit and elect responsible and progressive leaders for this city. Therefore we have established a process to endorse and promote candidates for local, state, and national elections. The enclosed questionnaire was prepared with the express purpose of collecting information about the specific policy positions of candidates for city council. The information we receive will be a determining factor in our decision to endorse a candidate. Your response to the questions will be posted on our website, and be distributed to our members.
