Congrats! DFA Boston Endorsements

Our members have voted, and the ballots counted. The Boston candidates who earned the DFA Boston endorsement by receiving greater than 75% support of the voting members are:
  • Sam Yoon for City Council At-Large
  • Gibran Rivera for City Council District 6
  • Maura Hennigan for Mayor

Congratulations! The candidates were feted at yesterday's barbecue, and further announcements about what DFA Boston will be doing for the announced candidates are forthcoming. Make sure to come by Sam Yoon's official campaign kick-off Tuesday, July 19 at 6 PM at the Golden Leaf Restaurant in Chinatown...

Ask your favorite candidate about making the proceedings and transactions of Boston City Council more transparent. Minutes taken by the city stenographer are recorded with a stenographic machine. The unedited stenographic transcription from the stenographic machine is not available even though it is paid for with public funds and a public record. All that is made public is a very spare minimally legal minutes that citizens have difficulty interpreting without the assistance of the council offices staff, city clerk and assistant city clerk. That assistance is not available readily and freely. People are kept at too long an arms reach from the council's proceedings and transactions. There is no listing readily available of the council docket numbers cross referenced so that the minutes can be interpreted. In the minutes papers of the mayor are mentioned as approved but no explanation is readily available explaining what the papers are that were approved. The staff of Boston City Council do not welcome enquiries. The clerk and assistant clerk do not welcome enquiries. The question for new candidates is will they open the council and make it a more transparent representative council for citizens.
